Single Moms

At Public Safety Organization (PSO) we know single mothers are challenged every day. Our goal is to help single moms raise awesome children in a loving, vibrant environment.

The United States leads the world in fatherless families.  Nearly 40% of children in father-absent homes have not seen their dad during the past year, and more than 50% of all fatherless children have never been in their dad’s home. The number of children being raised by single mothers more than quadrupled between 1960 and 2015.

84% of children who live with one parent live with their mother. These mothers strive to be the best parent they can be. Sometimes single moms need a little help.

Sometimes a little encouragement can go a long way. That’s where PSO can help.

In 2013, The Pew Center had published a report finding women are the best-paid workers in a record 40% of households with children under 18. That’s practically quadruple the 1960 number.

But a little detail was lost in that report. Sixty percent of “breadwinner-mom” families are really just “single-mom families”. In fact, single moms account for precisely 25% of all U.S. households.

So the myth is as a single mom, you feel alone and against the world. The reality is you are not alone.

Mothers are often faced with the decision to forfeit one necessity for another.  Why should they be challenged in this area while facing the responsibility of raising their children in a healthy, vibrant and loving environment?  The bigger question is how can PSO help make a difference?
